Two arrested in murder of University of Florida cheerleader, Saleha Huuda; ex-boyfriend charged: "Two people were arrested in Florida Wednesday and charged with murdering a University of Florida cheerleader, whose badly burned body was found in a deserted field in Gainesville in December.

Antonio Drayton, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Saleha Huuda, 21, as well as grand theft, abuse of a dead human body, tampering with physical evidence and willful burning of lands, according a release from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

Cassandra Kimbrough, 42, was also arrested and charged with accessory to first-degree murder.

Police said Drayton was an abusive ex-boyfriend of Huuda's with a history of domestic battery and disorderly conduct."

Cottondale Police Chief William Watford said Thursday the investigation will not end until all of the evidence collected in the slaying of Sharon and Bruce Williams is examined and authorities are certain 35-year-old Wade Williams was the killer.

“We wanted answers,” Watford said. “We’re still continuing on with the case and doing the stuff we normally would be doing.”

Watford declined to release details on how Sharon and Bruce Williams were killed. He said those details would be released when the investigation was concluded, which he expected soon.

“He’s our main suspect,” Watford said of Wade Williams. “Everything points toward him.”

Jackson County Sheriff Lou Roberts said all of the investigators involved with the Williams case assembled Thursday to comb through every detail of the investigation, “making sure we didn’t miss anything.”

“The actual fast pace of (the case)is winding down, but there’s still a lot to do,” he said."

Jarvis Johnson, Altonious M. Myers and Justin Johnson have all been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the drive-by shooting, Tunica County spokesman Larry Liddell said.

Witnesses told detectives that a silver Impala or Malibu drove by the business and several shots were fired Monday night. The car was later found on Miss. 304 in Robinsonville."

Sioux City man charged in drive-by shooting: "Joshue Tafolla, 26, was arrested at 1 a.m. Jan. 24 when the 2001 GMC Yukon he was driving became stuck in the snow.
Sioux City Police Lt. Mark Kirkpatrick said Tafolla fired a small-caliber handgun multiple times at 523 Collins. A bullet hit the front of the home, but no one was injured, according to Kirkpatrick.
Several other people who were in the vehicle with Tafolla fled the scene before police arrived. Tafolla was arrested without incident.
In addition to the class C felony, he was also charged with driving a vehicle while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.
Kirkpatrick said the shooting, which officers believe is gang-related, remains under investigation."

'I saw gun fire from one side and I saw gunfire from the other side,' neighbor Latricia Small said.
Authorities said they were described as being three black men wearing masks to conceal their identity.
'Something told me to drive down there and I did. He was already dead on the front lawn. His sister put a sheet over him,' Small said.

Defendant Tracy Province was shackled and wearing an orange jumpsuit when he appeared in federal court in Albuquerque Wednesday with his attorney, Richard Winterbottom.

Province faces the charges in the deaths of Gary and Linda Haas of Tecumseh, Okla. Their bodies were found a few days after the escape last July.

Province was brought to New Mexico last week after pleading guilty to other charges stemming from crimes in Arizona after his escape. He was sentenced to more than 38 years in prison."

The arrest is the culmination of an exhaustive investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service, West Hartford Police Department and the FBI.

“The U.S. Marshals has a long, successful history of bringing fugitives to justice. The arrest of Adam Zachs is a testament to our continued dedication to our fugitive mission,” said U.S. Marshal Joseph P. Faughnan. “In 1896, Judge Isaac Parker said it best, ‘permit no innocent man to be punished, but let no guilty man escape.’”

In 1988, Zachs, a West Hartford resident, was convicted by a Connecticut jury for the murder of Peter Carone after a dispute at the Prospect Café.  Zachs was sentenced to 60 years imprisonment and allowed to remain out of custody by posting a $250,000 bond, while his conviction was being appealed. 
In June 1989, Zachs failed to appear at his scheduled court date and a state arrest warrant was issued charging Zachs with failure to appear.  With the assistance of the FBI, an additional federal warrant was issued charging Zachs with unlawful flight to avoid confinement and the FBI became involved with investigating the whereabouts of Zachs. "

TMZ broke the story that James Mee -- the deputy who arrested Mel in Malibu and witnessed his anti-Semitic rant -- filed a lawsuit against the County of L.A., claiming he was retaliated against after the L.A. County Sheriff's Department alleged he leaked the police report to TMZ.

Now the County is firing back -- asking that the suit be dismissed -- claiming the assertion that the Sheriff was retaliating against the deputy because he was Jewish is simply unsupportable. In legal papers, the County says, "Simply receiving a directive to proceed in one manner with respect to a police report cannot in and of itself be considered discriminatory."

As we first reported, Mee was ordered to take out all references to Mel's anti-Semitic comments.

As for Mee's other allegations -- that he was "unjustly" denied a promotion, got a negative performance review and was forced to transfer to a less prestigious station --the County claims Mee's religion had nothing to do with it

The Sunday Times this week observed street prostitutes working morning, afternoon and night just 900m from Curtin House.

Motorists were seen picking up prostitutes along Stirling St and at the intersections of Bulwer, Broome and Lincoln streets, on the border of Perth and Highgate.

One Broome Street resident said he recently saw a prostitute performing a sex act on a client on the side of the road at 4pm on a weekday.

Four other residents in the area complained of street prostitutes getting into the passenger seat of their unlocked cars and propositioning them for sex.

An elderly resident said a prostitute got in his car and asked: "Are you looking for a lady tonight?"

The mother of a 33-year-old drug mule serving eight years in a Brazilian jail wiped away tears as she described her daughter's excitement when the wife of the state security minister offered her a "job".
Testifying in the drug-trafficking trial of Siyabonga Cwele's wife, Sheryl, and of Nigerian national Frank Nabolisa, Marie Swanepoel told the Pietermaritzburg High Court that Sheryl Cwele had assured her that her daughter, Tessa Beetge, would be safe overseas.

"After Sheryl put my husband's and my mind at rest, we agreed. We didn't suspect anything. We were happy Tessa was going overseas. It would be her first trip. She looked at it as a way of seeing the world. It was a trip that neither her mum nor dad had been on," Swanepoel said.

Her daughter had become friendly with Cwele when they were neighbours in the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast town of Port Shepstone. But the two lost contact after Beetge divorced and returned home to nearby Margate.

Swanepoel said Cwele had offered Beetge a job in London in 2008.
